Most breeders will be familiar with the importance of correct warming of a newborn puppy and maintaining that constant temperature to prevent chilling.  This is why these bags have been designed.  They are made from special material that heats naturally without the need of artificial heat such as from heating pads or hot water bottles, or lamps.  They are easy to use for transportation of newborns if need be, easy to store away, hand washable, and reuseable.  They are also vet approved.

They are ideal for any weak and or sick newborn and premature puppies.  They are useful in keeping newborn whelps warm between deliveries of puppies when dams are concerned about delivering the next puppy and the whelping bed is wet and damp due to fluids lost during whelping.  These bags are life savers if you happen to find a chilled pup in an otherwise healthy litter.  They are an excellent tool when hand raising newborn, weak, sick, or chilled puppies.

Overheating can be just as dangerous as chilling and more puppies are lost to these two extremes.  A newborn cannot maintain his own body temperature or regulate it for the first week post whelping.  A sick puppy, will soon succumb to chilling even before the illness takes full effect.  Equally a shocked puppy will have a subnormal body temperature.  Puppies delivered by caesarean are usually flaccid, slow to come around, and need slow warming.  A Puppy Bag should go to the vet' s surgery to receive the newborns as they are delivered, dried, and if need be resuscitated, then kept in the bag to warm.

Unlike with other methods of heating babies, these bags warm the pups from the inside out.  Other methods of warming generally warm from the outside and in many cases, the inside is not warm, which means that a puppy could still be in danger of dying from chilling.  Slow warming is what is needed and consistancy.  All bags are sold with clear instructions of use.  To help with the heating process, special heating wheat bags are used.  These help retain the heat from the special material used to make these bags.

These bags are not intended for use while the pups are with their mothers.  They are not bedding, they are an instrument to be used for slow warming.  When the puppies are with their mothers, they should be kept as per usual, on a covered heating pad.

The bags come in three sizes, for Toy Breeds, Medium Breeds, and the Larger Breeds.  Or  if you prefer, you may purchase more than one bag to accomodate your litter size.  The material used will be the same, but depending on availablity the patterns on the materials may differ.

There is a removeable little matress insert inside the bags which also has a different type of material to help in the warming process.
The bags pictured here are examples.  This is what the bag looks like looking down on it.  Pictured on your right.  Below is view of the inside of the bag.
Pictured on your left is the removable mattress insert.  Below are my two volunteer figurines, part of my collection, to demonstrate puppy side.  The white little Pug figurine is the approximate size of a Toy whelp and the black figurine is approximate size of a larger breed whelp.  The black one is a lot rounder and fuller than the white.
On your left is the larger breed of whelp inside the bag, as you can see there is plenty of room for up to five puppies in this bag.  This is the medium size bag.  Larger size is not pictured but is available.
On your right is the smaller type bag mainly for small Toy Breed litters and will fit two to three Toy Breed pups inside with ease.
Using our same model, the Larger Breed pup, you can see with this bag, you could only fit two puppies inside.
See below for the actual size of the pup in comparision to the bag.
Now viewing with the Toy Breed size puppy inside and you can see that this bag is designed more for a small litter of Toy Breed puppies.
Now, the Toy Breed of puppy inside the larger bag and you can see the difference in size.   Pictured below.
